The annual Country Garden Club Arbor Day Tree Planting Ceremony was held in the Veteran's Memorial Park on Friday, April 29th. This year, three trees were planted in the park. The Village of Otisville was able to purchase a Red Maple and a Hornbeam with grant money received from the New York State Urban Forestry Council. A third tree, a Baby Blue Spruce was donated by Rick and Linda Zgrodek and dedicated to the Otisville/Mount Hope Seniors. Rick and Linda's hope is that the blue spruce may someday serve as the official holiday tree for the Village.
Several members of the Country Garden Club read poems and Lee Runnalls gave a brief history of Arbor Day. Village Trustee, Ike Palmer read an Arbor Day proclamation on behalf of Mayor Wona, who was unable to attend the event.
After the ceremony, a casual gathering was hosted at the Village Hall by the Village Celebrations Committee. Light refreshments were served thanks to the generosity of the Garden Club and Celebrations Committee members.
The Arbor Day Celebration and tree planting is held each year and is always open to the public.
